More than £1,300 worth of tickets for the Olympic games will be up for grabs as competition prizes for Barnsley people in the run up to the games.
The Barnsley Newham Partnership - the only project of its kind which sees our town teamed up with the Olympic host borough - bid for £5,000 worth of Olympic tickets.
It was told this week it had been successful in getting £1,300, although it won't know until June 24 just what events they are for.
Spokesman Oliver Coppard said: "They won't be for the opening ceremony or anything like that, but still, it is tickets to the Olympics and it will be great to give our community the chance to go."
The project is working with WAB for some competition giveaways for the tickets - and it is hoping to secure funding to make some winners extra special by also providing accommodation.
