BARNSLEY COUNCIL has been granted permission to build 32 new homes on Longcar Lane.

The development will be funded by the council itself.

The council says this will ensure the development complements the wider Town Centre regeneration work, and means that four of the properties will become council properties rented at affordable rents.

The remaining 28 will be sold.

Coun Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “Like most places in the UK Barnsley needs more housing. This development will help Barnsley Council meet its current target for 800 new homes a year, and by exploring new ways of funding we can increase the housing supply in Barnsley.”
