A BUS service in Barnsley has been saved from cancellation after another operator agreed to take over the route.

Waterson’s Coaches will begin running service 193, which operates between Barnsley and Wakefield, on Monday October 31.

The current service’s operator, Arriva had planned to cease the service at the end of October.

However, following feedback from local residents and councillors, a new agreement with Waterson’s Coaches was secured as part of the Barnsley Bus Partnership.

Waterson’s Coaches will provide approximately one bus per hour during Monday to Saturday daytimes, retaining the links between Barnsley, Royston, Ryhill, New Crofton and Wakefield.

More information on the upcoming change to service 193 will be available at travelsouthyorkshire.com/servicechanges before service commencement.
