AN INVESTIGATION into alleged police brutality against picketing miners at the Battle of Orgreave - including hundreds from Barnsley - is set to go ahead.

The government says it will review the events - that took place during the 1984 miners' strike - but the format is yet to be decided.

Around 6,000 officers, many with riot gear, horses and dogs, are alleged to have used excessive force to suppress a miners' strike at the Orgreave. A total of 95 miners were charged following the clashes, but their trials collapsed.
