BARNSLEY COUNCIL has issued a warning to locals after discovering homemade 'stingers' hidden away in an area of long grass popular with children and dog walkers.
The stingers were found by a local resident in the public open space at Cypress Road in Kendray.
A council spokesperson said: "They had been placed in the long grass and could have been extremely dangerous to people using the area - especially children and dogs.
"Our tasking officer for the area has been notified and will keep an eye out. If you spot anything or have any information please contact the police by calling 101."
