THE new May Day Green market has been given an official opening date.
The market will open on Saturday, September 3 at a grand event.
There will be a fun fair with a free helter skelter, side shows and games.
The May Day Green Market replaces the semi-open market so that demolition work can begin on the multi-story car park to make way for the rest of the Better Barnsley redevelopment, including a new public square, new market hall, new library and cinema.
