POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a family were assaulted and burgled by two thieves in their home in Kendray.

At around 10.20pm on Wednesday (August 3), police received reports of an aggravated burglary.

The two thieves reportedly entered the house - on Gerald Road - and demanded cash from the occupants before assaulting two of them and stealing the wallet of a 23-year-old man.

The man received a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The first offender is described as white, of skinny build, around 6ft 1ins and aged around 25. He was wearing a balaclava.

The second offender is described as white, of stocky build, around 5ft 11ins. He was wearing a bandana around his face.

The thieves are believed to have left the scene on foot along Neville Avenue.

An investigation is underway and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
