AN impressive line up of local bands will be proving that Barnsley has talent after being confirmed to perform at this year's Fake Festival.

The national tribute festival will be visiting Barnsley on June 23 in Locke Park and not only will it feature professional tributes to The Killers, U2 and Coldplay but also local bands that were handpicked by the organisers.

Spokesman Jez Lee said: "Fake Festivals is the prefect platform for unsigned artists as they not only get to showcase their talent in front of a friendly local crowd, but they can also take advantage of the fully equipped stage that you would fine at other festivals such as Leeds and Reading – something not a lot of unsigned artists ever have the opportunity to do.

“We know how difficult it is to break into the music industry nowadays so we’re keen to help up and coming local artists get some exposure, plus, you never know who’ll turn up on our tour. We’ve had professionals from the music industry come along to check out unsigned artists and even the news editor of NME.”

The Barnsley acts that won a spot are Dirty Jeans, The Northern Swagger, Colour Me Stunned, The Tiny Giants and The Sherlocks.

Tickets for the event are now on sale at or from Originals Clothing, Jax Music Store, Jays Stores.
