A BARNSLEY woman is trying to track down a helpful local who came to the aid of her dad when he collapsed earlier this month.

Julie Crossland says her dad, Selwyn Crosland, collapsed because of heart problems on the street outside the Royal Oak pub in Wombwell on Friday, July 15 at around 11:30am.

A lady, thought to be named Carol, called for an ambulance and stayed with her dad until he was taken to hospital.

Julie said: "I am looking for Carol as my dad would like to thank her for her help.

"This wonderful lady deserves a thank you for a start.

"My dad has now had a pacemaker fitted after a total of four episodes of collapsing and is recovering well at home."
