TWO Barnsley men have been charged with GBH offences after separate incidents over the weekend, in which both a female police officer and a woman suffered serious injuries.
Casey Kevin Green, 21, of Northorpe, Gilroyd, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court today (Monday July 18) charged with section 18 assault – wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The charge relates to an alleged assault in Doncaster Road, Darfield, at around 7.25pm on Friday (July 15). He has been bailed to appear before Sheffield Crown Court at a later date.
Two officers were injured during the incident, including a 45-year-old female officer who suffered serious hand injuries that required hospital treatment.
Also, in an unrelated incident, a 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a reported assault of a 29-year-old woman in Town End.
Dawit Gishe, of Farrar Street, Town End, also appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court today (Monday July 18) charged with section 18 assault – wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The charge relates to an alleged assault in Farrar Street that is reported to have taken place at around 1.55pm on Saturday (July 16).
A 29-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition receiving treatment.
Gishe has been remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on 25 July 2016.
