POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was allegedly raped in a town centre park on Sunday.
Police received a third party allegation of rape from a member of the public, which is believed to have happened in Sparrow Park at around 3am on Sunday, July 10.
Officers carried out enquiries at the scene and have spoken with and offered support to the woman.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway, with officers reviewing CCTV footage from the local area.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the park in the early hours of Sunday morning should call 101 quoting incident number 275 of July 10 2016.
