THE teenager who has been charged with the manslaughter of a man at a party will appear before the courts today.
Jordan Sheard, 19, from Cudworth, will be before Barnsley Magistrates charged with the manslaughter of Steven Simpson.
Steven died after suffering burns at a party in Cudworth in June.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised South Yorkshire Police to charge Jordan Sheard with manslaughter earlier this month.
In a statement, lawyer James Scott said: "Following an investigation by South Yorkshire Police, CPS lawyers receive a file of evidence relating to the death of Steven Simpson. The incident occurred in Barnsley in June this year, and Mr Simpson died of his injuries at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield two days later.
"Having considered all of the available evidence I believe that there is a realistic prospect of convicting Mr Sheard for this offence and a prosecution is in the public interest."
Three other people - two 16-year-old boys and one 18-year-old man - arrested on suspicion of murder, remain on police bail until the end of November.
