A MAN who confronted a large group of youths after they threw an egg at his house was repeatedly punched by the gang.

The 53-year-old man went outside his address on Sandygate, Wath-upon-Dearne, and was met by a group of around 20-30 youths.

The incident happened at around 8pm on November 4, a date dubbed as 'Mischief Night'.

The man is believed to have chased two of the group off his property before being confronted by a larger group and allegedly assaulted, being repeatedly punched to the head and body.

The man sustained bruising, cuts and broken bones that required hospital treatment. The group of both males and females, aged approximately 14 to 17 years old, had fled the scene before police arrived.
