BARNSLEY KIDS will get the opportunity to rent bikes for free thanks to a new bike station that will open in town.

Launched as a legacy of the Tour de France, the  Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries project aims to give every child in Yorkshire access to a bike.

The project sees unwanted bikes donated at one of the county’s 42 donation stations, where they are then fixed up and available to hire free of charge.

According to the initiative's website, Barnsley's new bike station will be opening soon at the Shaw Lane Sports Club.
