FOUR weeks of work are expected to start on the A616 between the McDonalds roundabout at Tankersley and Wortley later this month.

Work is due to begin on May 22 and is expected to take four weeks to complete.

A 10 mph speed limit will be used when traffic has to be escorted through the roadworks.

At other times, a 40 mph limit will be in place rather than the usual national speed limit.

The stretch of road affected is slightly less than three kilometres and will also affect the eastbound entry sliproad and westbound exit sliproad at Wortley.

Laybys at the roadside in each direction will also be closed for the duration of the work.

The project will see the road resurfaced, with new road markings and traffic loops installed, along with other maintenance tasks.
