A PENSIONER is in hospital after an alleged hit-and-run in Penistone.

The 83-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a green Volkswagen Golf at around 10.30am on Wednesday (April 20).

It was reported that the driver of the Golf failed to stop at the scene.

It happened in St Mary’s Road, outside Clarks Chemist, at the junction with Market Street.

The woman is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries, which are not currently considered to be life-threatening.

A 68-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop/report a collision, and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
