A DOCUMENTARY maker will visit Barnsley for a showing of his film that warns against the dangers of fracking.

Ian Crane will visit The Core for the screening, which has been organised by the No Fracking in Barnsley campaign, a growing group of local residents concerned about the damage that fracking may do in Barnsley.

Most of South Yorkshire, including Barnsley and the Dearne Valley is now covered by licences allowing fracking companies to explore for shale gas.

The government and the energy companies claim that fracking will bring jobs and prosperity to our area.

However, campaigners say that it can cause life threatening pollution, devalue homes and contribute to climate change.

Ian Crane travelled to Australia to make the hour long documentary, telling the stories of families living among the Australian gasfields.

“What I found should be seen by everyone living in areas that may play host to fracking,” said Ian.

“The lives of people in the Australian gasfields have been torn apart by fracking.”

‘Voices from the Gasfields’ will be shown at The Core on County Way on Thursday 7th April at 7pm.
