WORK has started on the temporary May Day Green market.
The temporary structure is being created off-site, but will eventually house traders while the Metropolitan Centre is refurbished.
One of the stages of the re-development is the demolition of the existing multi-storey car park, which is due to start early summer.
The market will have a variety of stall types and sizes and will also house a cafe and public toilets.
The primary entrance will be on May Day Green, with another entrance on Kendray Street.
