MI CARD bus fares will increase in April.
The cost of a fare will increase from 50p to 60p from Sunday 10 April.
Following consultation with Barnsley Youth Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive last year, it was agreed by the Council’s Cabinet members that in order to make £200,000 savings during the 2016/17 financial year, there would need to be a 10p fare increase.
Mi Card currently offers discounted travel to young people aged between five and 18 years old, for journeys starting or ending in Barnsley.
The scheme is scheduled to discontinue in 2017/18.
