WOMEN'S AID is calling on supporters to light a candle in memory of Jack and Paul, the sons of Child First spokeswoman Claire Throssell.

Jack and Paul were killed in 2014 after their father, Darren Sykes, set fire to his house in Penistone, before trapping himself and his sons in the attic.

After lighting the candle, Women’s Aid is asking supporters to tweet, share or post a picture with the hashtag #CandleforClaire, as well as the supporting hashtags #ChildFirst and #rememberjackandpaul.

A vigil is also being held in St John's Church in Penistone at 10:45 on Mother’s Day.

Claire said: “I want to honour the memory of my beautiful boys, and help protect other children. The online vigil and the vigil in my community will help keep the boys memory alive, and raise awareness about unsafe child contact. I want to help protect other children so my boys did not die in vain."
