NEARLY FIFTY PER CENT of inspected care homes in Barnsley require improvement, the Council has revealed.

Out of 47 care homes across the town, 21 have been inspected by the CQC (Care Quality Commission).

Of the 21 inspected, 47 per cent were said to 'Require Improvement'.

A further 14 per cent were rated as 'Inadequate'.

The Council, through the Adult Joint Commissioning Team, work with the CQC and the care homes to put in place measures to improve poorly performing homes and to combat the risks to the individuals who reside in them.
