A MAN is in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a car in Goldthorpe.

Police are investigating after a 22-year-old man suffered severe head injuries following the collision in Barnsley.

It is reported that at around 7.25pm on Monday 29 February, the man was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 406, which was pulling a single axle trailer.

The collision is believed to have happened in Beever Street, Goldthorpe.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving offences. He remains in custody being questioned.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1158 of 29 February 2016.
