BARNSLEY College has scrapped parking charges at its Honeywell campus following protests from residents and students.

The college brought in parking charges earlier this month, causing students to park on streets in the surrounding area for free.

In response to the increase in parked cars, residents of the streets put up a sign warning that cars would be vandalised.

Therefore the College has now decided to scrap the charges.

College Principal Chris Webb said: “Car parking is being closely monitored and a decision has been taken to remove the charges in an attempt to improve the situation."
