TOUGH new penalties will be given to anyone found selling substances like plant food as ways to get high.
MP Dan Jarvis has spearheaded a campaign to get the Psychoactive Substances Bill passed through Parliament.
He said: "From April 1, local authorities will be able to apply to the courts to have a retail premises closed down if they believe legal highs are being sold.
“Many young people continue to view legal highs as less harmful than illegal drugs, but the reality is that they can be just as dangerous and equally as addictive. It is therefore vital that the government launches an effective public awareness campaign alongside this new law."
