A SPECIAL event will be held to highlight how the generosity of one Barnsley family ended up shaping our town.
Experience Barnsley will focus on the Harvey family who gifted artworks from masters like Canaletto and Hogarth and use their success in the linen trade to buy a number of buildings that are still used by locals today.
These included Beckett’s Hospital, the Oaks Colliery Relief Fund, and perhaps the most well-known, the Public Hall, now The Civic.
The event will run until April.
