A SCHEME that offered help to first-time mums has been axed because of high running costs.
The family nursing programme cost over £425,000 last year - but is only being used by 100 women.
It had been tasked with clamping down on smoking in late pregnancy and helping vulnerable mums but had not been effective.
The report said there had been difficulty in recruiting clients on to the current programme.
