SUPPORT services for locals with learning disabilities could be outsourced by the council in a move expected to impact on more than 130 jobs.
Barnsley Council is proposing an overhaul that would allow external companies to bid for contracts to look after 150 supported living placements, along with the development of new services to support young people in transition.
A council report says that the move could save over £3 million in five years - but if approved around 130 council staff and 14 employees of South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust could be affected.
The report added: "Staff affected would be supported through the council and partner's managing change procedures."
