THE SUPERMARKET chain which decided not to proceed with plans to open in a former DIY store at Stairfoot are looking to sell.

Sainsbury's say it is speaking with several businesses interested in the former B& Q store at Stairfoot which closed in September.

Sainbury's had intended to open a supermarket in the building, creating 240 jobs, but the plans were shelved because it said a change in shopping trends made it no longer viable.

A spokesman for Sainsbury’s said: “We are continuing to market the site and are discussing with a number of interested businesses.”
