EIGHT people have been left with serious injuries after a car crash in Hoylandswaine.
The accident happened at around 5.45pm on Monday (Jan 4) when a silver Vauxhall Corsa travelling along Barnsley Road, Silkstone, was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 107 travelling on Barnsley Road.
The Peugeot then crashed into a a black Ford Mondeo.
Travelling in the Corsa, a four-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition and a three-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The driver, a 36-year-old man, and a passenger, a 21-year-old man, both from Penistone, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
A passenger in the Peugeot, a 49-year-old man from Barnsley, also suffered life-threatening injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition. The driver of the Peugeot, a 50-year-old woman from Barnsley, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Travelling in the Mondeo, the driver, a 45-year-old woman from Hoylandswaine, and a passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Penistone, were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are asking anyone who saw the collision, or the manner in which any of the cars were being driver prior to the collision, to contact 101 quoting incident number 795 of Monday 4 January.
