A SCHEME which encourages children to be more aware of the dangers that face them in the community is set to expand across Barnsley.
A successful junior warden scheme has already run with 24 youngsters through the Dodworth Crime and Safety Group.
They have been given first aid training, education about the dangers of playing on railways lines and have visits from people ranging from police officers to mountain rescue teams.
Malcolm Howarth, who runs the scheme said: “The overall aim of the project is to promote good citizenship, build character, team spirit and self-confidence.”
The scheme is set to expand with the introduction of a scheme for the Worsbrough and Central Wards in which Ward Green Primary school and Queen's Road Academy will team up.
If you would like to help, sponsor or be involved in the new schemes or for more information on the scheme please call Malcolm on 07850 949943.
