AN ACTION-plan to transform Elsecar into an internationally appealing tourism destination will be revealed in the new year.
Consultants have been working on a scheme since the £500,000 restoration of the Newcomen beam engine, used to pump water from Elsecar colliery in the 19th Century, was finished.
It is hoped that Elsecar could be developed into a World Heritage Site like Saltaire.
A council spokesman said: "Saltaire was created by Titus Salt but we have the village the Fitzwilliams created.
“We have a canal, a railway, all these things with an important industrial heritage. What we don’t have is anywhere to park."
