PATHS to schools will be gritted for the first time ever in response to parent demand.

Barnsley Council says that more than 12,000 tonnes of grit have been moved into Barnsley in preparation for the winter weather.

And this year, in response to requests made by the borough’s schools, additional gritting routes have been added in for when it snows - to try to ensure children can get to school and parents don’t need time off work.
