OVER ten tonnes of rubbish and green waste have been cleared from land in the town centre.
Council officers got to work on land between Westway, Wellington Street and Pall Mall in a bid to clear it up and make it less of a hiding place for those planning anti-social behaviour.
A spokesman said: “A lot of work has gone into improving this area for the benefit of everyone who comes to Barnsley town centre; the removal of low level vegetation will discourage anti-social behaviour and enhance the appearance of the town centre.”
