DRINK drivers will be named and shamed by police on social media as part of a tough new crackdown.
Timed to coincide with Christmas party season, the Force says it will name everyone charged with driving over the prescribed limit - and We Are Barnsley will publish them too.
Chief Inspector Glen Suttenwood said: “We don’t want to stop people enjoying themselves with friends and family during the festive season, but we want them to think about the negative, life changing possibilities for them if they choose to drive while under the influence of alcohol.
“Our officers will be out in force across the month of December, stopping vehicles and carrying out breath tests, to ensure we catch those who believe they can take the law into their own hands, and prevent innocent people from becoming victims this Christmas.”
