DINERS at Barnsley College were treated to a step back in time at a special Titanic themed evening to mark the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking. The five course menu served to First Class passengers on the night the Titanic sank was recreated by students using the Zest Restaurant.

Item son the menu included Salmon with Mousseline Sauce, Sauté of Chicken Lyonnaise, Roast Duckling with Apple Sauce and Waldorf Pudding. Restaurant Supervisor Maxine Dyer said: “The Titanic themed evening was the students’ idea and proved to be a huge success. We served 74 diners which is the most our students have ever catered for, and many of the guests got into the spirit of things by wearing 1912-style dress which added a great atmosphere to the evening.

"The students created special menus with information about the ship as well as ‘boarding cards’ for each customer and we had excellent feedback from everyone who attended.”
