TERRIFIED staff at a Barnsley bookies were robbed at gunpoint by a brazen thief.

A man - who had his face covered by a scarf - went into Coral Bookmakers on Garden Street, Darfield at around 5.40pm on Monday (November 16) armed with a black handgun.

He threatened the staff and stole £700, making off on foot.

A police spokesman said: "No shots were fired during the incident and no one was injured, however the two members of staff were understandably left shaken by the incident."

The man is described as about 5ft 10ins and of a slender build. He was wearing a fluorescent orange high visibility vest with a black jacket underneath, black gloves and beige combat trousers with black patches between the knee and ankle.

He was also wearing a woolly hat and a black scarf to cover his face.
