FOUR derelict houses will be transformed into family homes under a pilot scheme underway in Goldthorpe.

The houses - on Wellington Street and on Albert Road - have been boarded up for a decade but within six months will be refurbished into family homes.

It's part of the Big Local scheme which has £1m to pump into projects across the Dearne area over the course of ten years.

Spokesman April Fisher said: “The houses are shells at the moment and it will take almost a rebuild to get them to be the good, quality affordable homes that we want them to be.”

The homes will be renovated by local apprentices - anybody interested in the apprenticeship can contact Steve Palmer on 01226 786780.
