A GROUP charged with improving Barnsley's exam results will be holding meeting with schools that fail to make the grade.
The Barnsley Alliance for Schools Board has reported to the council's decision-making cabinet after a report revealed more needs to be done to close the gap between local schools and national results.
The report says there has been some improvements but planned action include meetins with schools that are below average to check what's being done.
It also looks at support and training in target areas such as mathematics, middle leadership and working with more-able pupils.
Coun Tim Cheetham, Cabinet spokesperson for People, said: “Everyone should have high ambitions for our children and for this reason we want to work closely with learning centres, through the Barnsley Alliance, to raise still further the pace of improvement.”
