DANGER warnings have been issued to parents amid fears children may hurt themselves climbing electricity pylons.

Northern Powergrid says - in the run up to Halloween - it would be a good time for parents to remind their children about the dangers of overhead power lines or substations.

Spokesman Geoff Earl said: “It’s vital that parents remind youngsters of the dangers so they realise that interfering, accidentally or otherwise, with any part of their local electricity network can potentially prove fatal.

“We would urge all parents and guardians to spend a few minutes chatting with their children about the potential dangers and what they should do if they accidently kick their football into a substation or see anything hanging from our power lines.”
