A WOMBWELL takeaway operator has been fined after his business was found in a rat infested and dirty state by inspectors.
Red Onion Takeaway on Park Street was found in a rat infested and very dirty state during a routine inspection in November last year.
There was also a lack of food hygiene training and inadequate food safety management procedures.
Takeaway operator, Zaheer Ahmed, pleaded guilty to breaches of the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on October 23.
For the first offence Mr Ahmed was fined £1,000 and for the remaining he was fined £3,500 - £500 per offence.
In addition he was ordered to pay full prosecution costs of £3,287.24 and a victim surcharge £120, totalling £7,907.24
