POLICE will be carrying out extra patrols after a string of arson attacks took place in the space of just 15 minutes in Wath-Upon-Dearne.

Four cars were set on fire including an unattended police car on Church Street between 1.50am and 2.05am on Thursday, October 14.

Firefighters tackled the blaze, but all the cars sustained extensive damage and were destroyed.

A police spokesperson said: "A number of enquiries have already been conducted and officers are following up on several leads as part of the investigation.

"Extra, high visibility patrols are also taking place in the area over the coming days."
