POLICE are appealing for information about a crash involving an ambulance service car which resulted in an 80-year-old woman suffering serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the A6135 Sheffield Road in Hoyland at around 1.10pm on Friday, October 9.

A white Skoda Octavia, which was a Yorkshire Ambulance Service fast responder car, was involved in a crash with a grey Peugeot 3008.

Both cars were driving along Sheffield Road in the direction of Chapeltown when they crashed near to the entrance of Parkside Farm Shop.

An 80-year-old woman from Barnsley, who was the passenger inside the Peugeot, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged from hospital.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either cars before the incident.
