ARMED police patrolled the streets of Worsbrough Common on Sunday, October 11, after reports of gunshots in the area.

A number of checks were made and police found no evidence to suggest that a firearm had been used.

Two local men, both aged 23, were arrested from the area on suspicion of affray and have been released on police bail.

A third man, aged 26, was arrested this morning (Monday, October 12) from an address in Barnsley.

He was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and remains in police custody this morning.

A police spokesperson said: "Enquires into the circumstances leading to the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police via: 101 and quoting incident number: 506 from 11 October."
