A MAN has been charged with rape after a 63-year-old woman was attacked at a home in Barnsley on Saturday, September 26.
Emergency services were called out at around 11pm on Saturday, September 26, to reports a woman had been raped at a home in the Smithies area.
Michael Nicholas Kirk, 26, of Belmont Avenue, Smithies, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, September 28) charged with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court at a later date.
The 63-year-old woman is now receiving support from specialist officers.
