THE quality of childcare services in Barnsley are among the best in the country, a new report has revealed.

An amazing 88 per cent of childminders, daycare nurseries, playgroups and out-of-school clubs in Barnsley achieved 'good' or ‘outstanding’ in Ofsted inspections.

This is compared with the national average of 85 per cent.

Coun Tim Cheetham said: “The council is committed to ensuring all children have the best start in life and have access to high-quality early education and care.

"We know that high-quality provision in the early years makes a positive difference to children now and for their future life chances.”
