YOUNG patients at Barnsley Hospital received surprise presents recently when new toys were delivered to the ward.
The new toys provided a welcomed distraction for children receiving treatment on the hospital ward at what can be a very distressing time.
Representatives from Tesco Extra, based on Wombwell Lane in Stairfoot, visited the children's ward in hospital with the gifts which were donated by staff and customers.
Lisa Hammond, community champion at Tesco, said, “We placed trolleys at the front of the store to advertise the toy collection and it only took around a month and a half for us to collect enough toys to fill several large black bags.
"We’d definitely be willing to help again in the future.”
