LOCAL lawyers joined members of a Barnsley disease support group to take part in a walking event as part of a national lung awareness week.
The plan was to take a million steps between them and effectively walk from Barnsley to John O’Groats.
But once they had hit their target the walkers decided to just keep going.
John Welch is a partner with Raleys Solicitors and has also been treasurer of Barnsley Breathe Easy for almost 10 years.
He said: "Obviously prolonged walking or any kind of physical exertion can be challenging for many of our Breathe Easy group members who suffer from a lung condition.
"My colleagues and I were only too happy to lend our support in this way. Rather than organising a single sponsored walk, we decided we would wear pedometers each day and initially aim to take a million steps between us."
