BARNSLEY Council's electronic payments system will be unavailable at some points during Wednesday and Thursday.

This is to allow essential upgrade work to be carried out.

Some chip-and-pin machines, the Automated Payments Line and the online payments option of websites including www.barnsley.gov.uk and www.transpenninetrail.org.uk will be unavailable at certain times on these dates.

The national Planning Portal and gov.uk websites will be unable to refer customers through to Barnsley’s online payment options.

However, Barclays chip-and-pin machines will not be affected.

A council spokesperson said: "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by this interruption to service which will be kept to a minimum as far as possible."
