TWO people from Barnsley travelled 4,500 miles from Edinburgh to Rome in a car costing just £500 to raise money for charity.

Paediatric Sister, Zoe Shaw and Danny Williams took part in the Rust 2 Rome challenge to support the Tiny Hearts Appeal and the Paediatric Emergency Department.

Zoe and Danny decided to fundraise for the appeal after Danny’s daughter (now aged 11) spent time on the Special Care Baby Unit.

The pair named their team 'Lexus go to Rome' and raised a fantastic £397. However, they are expecting their total to rise to £600 as they are still collecting sponsorship.

Zoe said: “It was amazing; I can't tell you how good it was. The car behaved beautifully and I even survived the camping.

“We both used our skills - my first aid experience was very useful and Danny proved he knows more than I thought about cars - helping at many a breakdown but thankfully never our own.”
