PEOPLE are being encouraged to vote for Trans Pennine Trail to win the award for favourite long distance cycling route.

The trail links the North and Irish seas, passing through the Pennines, alongside rivers and canals and through some of the most historic towns and cities in the north of England.

Trans Pennine Trail has been nominated for the Sustrans award by Ecotricity - a green energy provider.

Coun Roy Miller said: "It’s a great honour to be nominated and I hope that people will get behind the TPT and vote for it to win.”

Voting will run until Monday, August 31 and the winner will be announced at the beginning of September.
